Sometimes, despite your best efforts, orthodontic appliances need to be repaired. Please call us immediately if your appliance becomes loose or falls off so that we can repair your braces and continue your treatment.
The most common problems with braces include:
Broken wires and brackets —Components of the braces can fall off or break if you are eating hard foods that can weaken the composite material that binds the braces to your teeth.
Wires that separate from the braces —A protruding wire can hurt your cheek, gums, or tongue. Take an eraser to plenty push the wire back to where it was, or use some dental wax to cover it until you get to our office. Don’t attempt to cut the wire yourself!
Dr. Gutiérrez will first try to reattach any wires or brackets that have become loose or fallen off. If they can’t be reattached, they’ll need to be replaced. Please remember to call us right away so that we can get you into the office to fix your appliance.
